I suggest…

Event: Participation without invitation

User should be able to participate in an event, without being inveted.
Use Case: Many of our pages have event calenders and all colleagues are invited to these events. But we cannot invite all. So it would be nice, if one could click on Accept, without being invited in order to see it in my events and for the admin to see, how many are coming. Like Facebook events.

Hey Sven, improving the events would be another option to solve my 'problem'. To be honest I did not really thought about it but I think it is a good idea.

Hey Vanessa, wouldn't it be a better idea to improve the events then? E.g. making it possible to create global events with a limited seating where everyone could set their status (without being invited)?

  • Vanessa John commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

In order to use the list app for registrations for an event with limited seats, it would be helpful if we could limit the numbers of entries. This function is given in the event-app but there you have to invite all users to make their registration possible. In the list-app the general invitation of all is not necessary. Therefore interested users can sign in without having received an invitation. If the seats are filled, an entry in the list-app should not be possible anymore.

PS: As we already work with a large number of user groups, manual selection is currently too cumbersome and difficult to implement.

Currently the event function is not usable for us, because at a new event all colleagues have to be invited first. In our opinion, everyone should therefore have a membership option - even if they have not been actively invited.

An example: Every week we offer our colleagues to different seminars and workshops. But we don't want to invite our colleagues actively EVERY time. Instead, the colleagues on the event page should decide for themselves whether the event is interesting for them or not.

Our suggestion: During the event creation process, the event admin can decide whether everyone can participate in the event and agree to it - or whether only invited colleagues can participate and agree to it.

Total agree! I wanne use events also to find out if there is a need of the employees to this event. Like: When 20 people participate in the event until 20th of June the event will take place.

Or if you just offer an open event to the people and want to find out how much preperation the event need.

    Just two of many examples!

Absolutely agree. We offer a lot of events and have a constant stream of new users. It is hardly possible to invite all new users to the events. But so far they do not see relevant events which collides with our business model. So, please implement this feature: New users should see all events (of course with the right permission) and be able to attend, also without invitation.

    No, problem!

Yes, there is a way to add events directly to your calendar. With version 14 (which is the latest cloud version) we introduced an ICS download which you can directly connect with your calendar application on your computer (or mobile device). There is a brief explanation in this blog article: https://www.coyoapp.com/blog/externe-workspace-mitglieder

We are also working on a direct integration with Outlook in O365 and Google Calendar.

An is there a possibility to add an event to your calendar? Like outlook for example? When you say attend you have the possibility to add it directly to your work calendar.

Nothing secure - but the plan is to improve a few flaws in the general concept like:
    - making it easier to create public / private events
    - invite all members of a workspace / subscribers of a page
    - edit the admins afterwards and do not display them as hosts

That's good news, Sven! Can you already give an overview on the planned improvements for events?

We use the events to organize joind travells with a car between different locations. It would make sense that somebody can join the event ( = join the car ride ) without being invited.

For us it´s really important too...we often use the event app for events that are interesting for the whole company (e.g. Info meetings, sport events...), so that everybody interested in the event can join voluntarily. We don´t want to invite certain colleagues or the whole company because the events are not mandatory and colleagues shouldn´t be flooded with notifications.

Right now it is sometimes too complicated to invite everybody.
