COYO: Ideas & Roadmap

Emojis should be recognized

When adding an emoji manually by typing in the characters, it should be recognized automatically and displayed as an emoji.

        Hi Josephine,
1803 is the Windows Version - you'll need at least 1803 (can be found under Settings --> System --> About) to use the keyboard command "Win + ."

Browser Version always depends as different Browsers interpret emojis differently - currently I'm using Edge (v.44.17763.1.0) and Firefox (v.65.0.2)

        Hi Florian,
thanks for the hint. To which system does the version number refer? Browser version?

      • Florian commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

Just a hint - with Windows 10 on your Keyboard press: Win Key "+" .

(Windows Key followed by the Full Stop Key)

You will then get an emoji picker where you can also search for emojis by just typing when the box appears.

You'll need at least Version 1803 for the emoji picker to show up.

        Hi Sven,

this is at least a step forward. This is how we are used to select emojis. Additionally it would be great, if characters (especially when typing on desktop application) would be recognized as emojis as well.

        Hi Sven,

this improvement would be an increase in usability. Many (desktop) users are typing in the characters for emojis and it's known behaviour from Office, e.g. MS Teams, that characters are converted into emojis. We're chosing the emojis from the list (mainly on mobile) and it would be convenient, if there would be a list of latest used emojis as well.

        Hi Sven,

in my opinion this would improve the usability of the emojis. Many users are inserting the characters for their emojis (when working on the desktop). If we're selecting emojis from the list (mainly on mobile) it would also be convenient to have a list of latest used emojis.

Hey Josephine, I know this has been the case in COYO 3 but whats the actual use case for this? In my opinion people are used to insert emojis directly by now instead of using characters. And people who choose to use the character version are mostly annoyed if those get "translated" automatically?!

In Coyo 3 it was possible to write :-) and this was converted automatically to an Emoj. Now in Coyo 4 (which should be feature equivalent) it is possible to use the Emoj Button, but written Emojs are not converted any more. Please bring back the automatic text to Emoj Conversion to have both possibilities.

Smilies are quite important today. It‘s the reason why people use certain chat apps or not. It‘s a user time driver 😉
